Daily Pictures 2009-11

Starting February 1st, 2009 I will do my best to post a daily picture in this gallery. I will try to include a picture of things that are meaningful to me or that reflect my day. Any feedback or comments are appreciated.

I asked Gabe to take my picture today for a project I am working on - and this is the pose I wanted. I would've preferred a black sky with the Batlogo on it, but since it was daytime and the sun was out, I used that instead. So, I guess this is my first portrait on the Daily Picture gallery, taken by Gabe.

Gabe and I were driving around the other day and we saw this field near our house that looked cool to me. I was able to get out of the car and snap a couple of pictures before it started to rain. I wish the clouds looked nicer of the sky looked blue, but again, I live in Oregon :D

I did another collage with some photos from the mural one of the school parents painted for our school auction that was last Saturday. I am considering having it printed and framed as a 'Thank You' gift for her. Any input and feedback you can provide that would make this better is greatley appreciated. I am limited on the number of photos I have of this mural that are usable.

I also wanted to thank everyone for your kind comments about the 1949 Cadillac collage from yesterday. I changed a couple of pictures.

Here are some pictures from the 1949 Cadillac that someone graciously brought to the auction yesterday and allowed people to be photographed by it as they walked into the auction. The owner, Bill, also allowed Gabe to drive it around the parking lot before he left for the evening. What a great treat for Gabe. He was extremely excited at this rare opportunity.

The auction pictures are posted here if anyone wants to take a peak at them. Please feel free to provide Gabe and I any feedback. http://www.orsophotography.com/gallery/7939132_qseLV#521620882_MLhff

Our school auction is finally over (what a relief). Gabe and I did the photography tonight and some folks had brought their 1940's vehicles, which created a good opportunity to photograph people as they walked into the Gym. This is a partial picture of one of the Chevy trucks they had there. There was also a red 1949 Cadillac, which was restored - it looked amazing and I will post a couple of pictures as soon as I go through them.

As we get ready for our school's annual auction tomorrow, one of the parents painted this mural on canvas to be used as a backdrop for the stage area. This is only a little part of it - it is much longer. She got this done in about 3 days, which is fantastic. The theme for the auction is 'Celebrate the 40's'. I thought this would be a great Daily PIcture since she has done an amazing job.

Flowers from a friend's yard. Even though they are small, they looked really cool to me.

I am sorry I have not been able to post my Daily Pictures on time this week, nor commenting as much - I have been very busy with a couple of projects that are consuming all of my time. I should be able to catch up over the weekend. I can't wait to see some of the pictures I have been missing...

I took this shot while Gabe was mowing lawn for a friend of the family. I thought it was interesting how the ivy was climbing the dead tree.

Gabe took his SP today while at school for an open house. I modified it using Photoshop CS4 with a Bokeh filter from Alienskin http://www.alienskin.com/) that I installed on a trial basis. I like this Photoshop plugin, but I don't know if I can justify spending the money on it yet... The background of this shot is the school's Gym. It was a very beautiful and warm day today (I believe it got to almost 80 degrees).

I took Gabe to mow a lawn for a friend of the family today. I happened to have my camera as he was working hard :D and I took a shot of this dandelion (right before Gabe came over and mowed it). I thought it would be a good Daily Picture. It would've been nicer to be able to get a closer capture.

I am posting another picture Gabe took, this time of this reflection of one of his friends. It is suppose to be nice and sunny tomorrow (Sunday) and I am hoping to find a little bit of time to go out take some nice spring shots.

I am sorry for not posting Friday’s picture sooner, but it was a very busy day. Gabe and some friends went bowling and he took this shot at the bowling alley that I thought was cool. I modified it using Photoshop CS4 with a Bokeh filter from Alienskin http://www.alienskin.com/) that I installed on a trial basis.

I am posting another photo I took at the Oregon Gardens the other day. Jeneé and I really liked the bright yellow color on these daffodils. We were behind a fence and could't get much closer than this with the current lens I had at the time.

I found this picture of my niece and her boyfriend while moving some pictures from our laptop to my desktop computer, and I thought it would make a good Daily Picture. Hopefully she won't mind me posting it, but the art and composition behind it is great. Gabe took this shot while we were at the Oregon Coast during Spring break.

I did not have a chance to take any new pictures today, so I am posting a photo I took last Sunday at the Oregon Gardens. Jeneé, Eli, Noah, and I went for a drive there to take some pictures. This picture was taken by the parking lot.

Happy Easter everyone! We celebrated Easter today with the family and this crystal cross was the centerpiece on the dining room table. I started taking a couple of shots of it, and I think I like this one best.

I took this photo while at the Oregon Coast during spring break and I have been saving it for Easter weekend. Jeneé and I saw this gentleman carrying the cross down Hwy 101, and we parked across the street so that we could take this picture. We saw him again later, going the opposite direction.

I often see a lot of flower pictures on SmugMug, and they are always pretty awesome! Well, I don't normally take close up pictures of plants or flowers, but I found this one of this teasel that Gabe took this week that I really like. It's not really a flower, but it has its own beauty and charm. I guess I will make more of an effort to photograph flowers close up and see how they come out.

I finally decided to order Adobe Creative Suite 4 this week, and while I wait for it to arrive, I decided to play around using an older program I have called Microsoft Photodraw to create this collage. I have enjoyed using Photodraw for many years, but I finally reached a point that is no longer adequate to use. I used Photoshop back in 2003, and I am very excited to use it again, together with Lightroom 2.0 and InDesign.

I was looking over some of the pictures that Gabe and I took on Monday and I noticed this old headstone had something interesting on it.. Back in 1889 (when this lady passed away), the writing was very different. It lists how old she was, to the day... ("Aged 78 Ys. 2 Ms. 15 Ds.") I thought this is something that you definitely don't see it anymore, unless on an old headstone like this one.
