Daily Pictures 2009-11

Starting February 1st, 2009 I will do my best to post a daily picture in this gallery. I will try to include a picture of things that are meaningful to me or that reflect my day. Any feedback or comments are appreciated.

I have been working on a video project for our kids' school and this is what I was stearing at most of the afternoon, as I converted video footage to digital format on a new Apple computer that the school has. Not much excitment today. I am hoping Gabe and I will have a chance to go out and take some pictures tomorrow, since it is suppose to be sunny and warm.

This is an old tractor that Gabe and I found yesterday around Monmouth. It has this 'cool' and 'old' look and feel to it that I thought would look best this way, instead of color. It looks like it still runs, and the tires seem fairly new. I like the crank handle in front of it...

There are more pictures of this tractor here: http://www.orsophotography.com/gallery/7828779_nx7fJ#507105108_FDyV2

Gabe and I went for a drive today to a nearby city called Monmouth (which is where I lived and attended college 20 years ago). We go there a few times a year since it is only about 20 min. away; but today I let Gabe drive all the way there, and back. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we made several stops on the way to take some pictures. I took several shots like this one, but I like the way this one turned out and the reflection of the trees show up on the car. If you want to see more pictures from this area, please click here: http://www.orsophotography.com/gallery/7828779_nx7fJ#507106351_ystF4
By the way, we were totally safe. No cars on the road, driving conditions were great, and all I did was stick my arm out the window and take the picture... There were no 'daredevil' stunts (like me hanging outside of the car, etc). We were both buckled up as well.

I have been posting church related pictures on Sundays, but today I wanted to make an exception and post this picture I took yesterday of the cherry blossoms in front of the Oregon State Capitol building. All the trees looked awesome, and I really enjoyed having this opportunity on a nice and sunny day.

Gabe, Noah, and I stopped at the Oregon State Capitol building here in Salem this afternoon to take some pictures of the blooming trees. We took several pictures that turned out really good and we were able to capture the building (and park) in the spring. We are hoping to go back tomorrow after church and take some more pictures since the weather is suppose to be nice again.

This is one of the items for auction at our kids' school at the end of the month. Gabe and I will be taking pictures of all the items in the next couple of week; we were just testing today, and I liked how this picture turned out.

I have been trying to organize some of the pictures on my computer, and I came across this picture that I took a while watching my niece's basketball game. Looked like a good Daily Picture that I (for some reason) forgot to use it.

Gabe took this picture of a wall decoration at his school today as he worked on a photo project for them. I added the treatment tonight while playing around with PICNIK. Seems like the world is full of questions, some simple, others complicated... Everyone at one point or another searches for answers...This represents how I feel tonight...

Eli's class went to see a play today called "Junie B. Jones" and Jeneé and I went with him. This is a picture of the set. This book is basically very tall (like approx 18 ft tall) and during the play, they open it and use the door inside to come in and out of the stage. They also used it for different sets. It is pretty cool. Since I could not take pictures during the play, I took this one before it started.

Since it's Sunday, I am adding a church picture. This is one of the windows of our church at dusk (First Church of the Nazarene). Gabe took this picture a couple of weeks ago as we were working on a project and we needed a night picture of the church. I think it turned out good, specially the colors.

I think I am done going through with all the pictures Gabe and I took this week while at the Oregon Coast. I am posting one of Gabe's picture (that he took) of this cool looking mural we saw. I hope it's OK to post someone else's art here, but we liked it a lot 'not to post'.

I am still going through all the pictures we took while at Depot Bay and I found this one I took of my niece. She didn't want her picture taken, but then agreed to do something silly. I think this turned out pretty good, considering I wasn't looking at the viewfinder, just clicking away...

We drove back to Salem today after spending a few days at the Oregon coast. Jeneé and I saw this sign and wondered what's up with the bike all the way to the top? We also wondered what a Sexie Sandwich is (besides 'A delicious thrill!'). We will have to give this a try next time we see one of these places... If any of you have eaten at a place like this, please share... :-)
I wanted to thank you all who commented on my Daily Picture from yesterday. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!

Today is our last day at the Oregon coast and we went to the Mark Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Between Gabe and I, we took so many pictures that it was very difficult to decide which one to use for the Daily Picture. I ended up chosing this picture I took of this Sea Anemone that all the kids were touching, including Eli and Noah. They loved it. Since the colors seemed to be nice and rich, I decided to use it.

For this shot, I used a Nikon 18-105mm lens.

Jeneé took today's picture here at the Oregon Coast. We went for a little drive this afternoon and we came across this unique mailbox that neither of us have seen before. I pulled over and handed the camera to her to take a few pictures. We both thought of making this a Daily Picture as soon as she snagged (no pun intended) this picture.

This picture was taken by Gabe today as my sister-in-law walked her dog. We are spending a few days in Depot Bay on the Oregon coast (where it rains often) with our entire family and we all have dogs. I like the matching colors on this picture - and I think Gabe did a good job composing it too.

Today's Daily Picture is of Noah. He is our youngest (4 yrs old) and just lost his first tooth today. He was very proud when it happened, which was on the way to church this morning. He walked around with the tooth in his pocket all day, until he placed it under his pillow before beditme.

I am adding another picture I took yesterday at Champoeg State Park museum. I found this lock (locked under a glass display box) and it made me wonder what history does it hold? I wondered who first purchased this lock, and for how much? What was used for? If it could only talk... I wonder if the person who made it ever thought it would end up in a museum 150 years later?

I went on a field trip with Eli's class today to Champoeg State Park, which is approximately 20 min. from Salem. This is the site where Oregon's first provisional government was formed by a historical vote in 1843. As we walked through the museum, I saw this display of an old style camera and photo album, which I thought it was pretty cool. We have come a long way with today's cameras... just amazing.

Gabe, Eli, and I went to take some night pictures of the Oregon State Capitol building on Tuesday night. This was the first time Eli joined Gabe and I and he is the one who took this picture. Gabe came up with the composition idea, and he even took a few shots with his camera, which turned out pretty good too. Then Eli added another flower and captured this one, which I like a lot. I am posting Eli's picture since he hasn't had one of his pictures posted for a while. I think he did a great job!
